Recast FAQ

Podcasts are fantastic but if you start subscribing to dozens they quickly become hard to manage. With podcast players it's all or nothing, subscribe or don't, but there's a better way. Recast lets you remix a podcast so you only get the episodes you're interested in.

Perhaps you only want the live episodes, or only ones on a certain topic, featuring a certain host or guest, longer than an hour, with clean language... Create the feed of your dreams then subscribe using your usual podcast player, new eipsides appear automatically like any other podcast.

Do you inject ads?

No, the podcast feeds and episode information is completely unedited, you get the same episodes that are in the original podcasts, we just exclude the ones you don't want to recieve.

Do you block ads?

No, we're not a podcast add-blocker, the episode description and audio remain untouched.

Do you track what I listen to?

No, we don't track anything at all, we don't even know that you're reading this page right now! There's no tracking on this site, in our app, or in the feeds.

How do you make money?

We have a premium service you can subscribe to. This gives you additional filters, fewer limits on podcast and episodes, faster episode updates and more. That's optional though, we're happy if you just use the free stuff.

Do you alter the episodes at all?

We exclude the episodes you don't want to hear but the episode audio is untouched. We change two small things so you can tell our feed apart from the original: We add a 🔀 icon to the start of the podcast name, and we add "Remixed via Recast" at the start of the podcast description. Our premium service allows you to customise podcast artwork, titles and descriptions yourself.

How often do the feeds update?

We check for new episodes several times a day (hourly on paid plans) but podcast names/descriptions are only changed once a week (daily on paid plans) because this informaiton rarely changes.

Who's behind all this?

We're a small family business in New Zealand. Over the years we've produced apps, built software, and written children's books. I got frustrated with podcast players making me choose all-or-nothing when subscribing to shows, so I built Recast for myself and eventually opened it up to everyone.
